UF Endorses Tom Torlakson for State Superintendent of Public Instruction

Tom Torlakson has long been a friend to CCCCD and to the United Faculty.  In fact, Tom made a point of JOINING the UF when he was teaching part-time at LMC.  As a legislator, Tom has not only worked to increase funding for education, but he’s been in our corner fighting for professional-development funds and shared governance.  “The first time I ever met Tom,” says UF President Jeff Michels, “he offered to call the Chancellor on our behalf to push for more money for professional development.”  We expect that Tom will make a great Superintendent of Public Instruction because we know that Tom believes in empowering teachers and providing resources.  Plus, he will strengthen the ties between K-12 and the community colleges.  We recommend that everyone vote for Tom on Nov. 2!
